Born in 1521; died on December 10, 1590; daughter of Christian II (1481–1559), king of Norway and Denmark (r. 1513–1523), and Elisabeth of Habsburg (1501–1526); niece of Charles V, Holy Roman emperor;married Francesco Maria Sforza, duke of Milan (r. 1521–1535), on May 4, 1534; married Francis I (1517–1545), duke of Lorraine (r. 1544–1545, son of Renée of Montpensier ), on July 10, 1541; children: (second marriage) Charles II the Great, duke of Lorraine (r. 1545–1608, who married Claude de France [1547–1575]).
