Mihrimah (1522–1575)
Princess of the Ottoman Empire. Name variations: Mirhrimah. Born in Constantinople in 1522; died in Constantinople in 1575; only dau. of Roxelana (c. 1504–1558) and Suleiman or Suleyman the Magnificent (c. 1494–1566), sultan of the Ottoman Empire (r. 1520–1566); m. Rüstem, chosen by her mother as her father's vizier; children: Aysha Humashah.
Along with mother and husband, formed a powerful coalition which influenced domestic and foreign politics; was the most powerful royal princess of the Ottoman Empire, especially after the death of her mother (1558), when she became Suleiman's closest advisor.
