Began swimming career in Kingston, Ontario (1975); in Canada, won 14 national championship medals in the backstroke (7 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze); at Los Angeles Olympics, won a bronze medal in the 4×100-meter medley relay (1984); became a swimming coach.
