American zoologist whose experimental work was important in establishing the field of population biology. Park's work actually spanned fields, and his work in population biology carried over into studies of ecosystems and the ecology of animal groups. Park's work in these areas helped define these fields for both contemporary and present-day scientists studying the interactions of populations of animals under changing conditions.
