Māṇik(k)avācakar
Māṇik(k)avācakar (‘the ruby-worded saint’, 8th or 9th cent.). Tamil poet and holy man, a Saivite devotee, one of the Nāyaṇmārs. He became one of the greatest of the poets of devotion to Śiva. His most celebrated work, Tiruvācakam (Sacred Utterances), is included in Tirumuṟai, a virtual ‘canon’ of Tamil Śaivism.
