videotext General term for the methods by which information can be brought to a television screen. Information that is transmitted by the broadcasting authority in parallel with the ordinary TV signals, and that may be screened simultaneously with or independently from other channels, is known as teletext. The system that brings information to the screen from a computer databank via a telephone landline is called videotex.
