cuckoopint
cuckoopint (wake robin or lords-and-ladies) Tuberous plant native to Europe. It has arrow-shaped leaves and sends up stout spathes, each of which unfurls to reveal a spadix that gives off a fetid carrion scent, attractive to insects, especially carrion-feeders. Later red poisonous berries form as the spathe dies off. Family Araceae; species Arum maculatum.
