Food Engineering Scholarships (Postdoctorate, Postgraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To attract and retain qualified personnel for the food processing industry. Focus: Food science and technology; service food careers. Qualif.: Applicants must be current outstanding employees of FPSA and juniors or sophomores in engineering in an educational institution in the U.S. or Canada having an approved degree program or option, be scholastically outstanding, have a well-rounded personality and have an intention to pursue a career in the food industry. Criteria: Priority is given to applicants with satisfactory contributions to developments and applications in the food and processing industry.
Funds Avail.: $2,500 for enrollment in a food engineering curriculum and $500 travel grant to attend FPSA Expo. Number Awarded: 2. To Apply: Candidates must submit one original and seven copies of all application materials in order: application form with certification of Department Head; supporting materials (course details, and entire proof of academic performance); official transcript; letter of recommendation to the FPSA office. Deadline: March 30.

V. Duane Rath Graduate Research Fellowships (Doctorate, Graduate, Postdoctorate/Fellowship)
Purpose: To financially assist undergraduate and graduate students in researches. Focus: Food science and technology; service food careers. Qualif.: Candidates must be Masters or PhD candidates in the dairy or food sciences, attending a North American university. Criteria: Successful nominees will be selected on the basis of academic performance, commitment to a career in dairy or food industries, evidence of leadership ability and initiative, character and integrity, research proposal; and, for students currently conducting research, a progress report.
Funds Avail.: $10,000 an expense-paid trip to the FPSA Annual Conference to accept the award. Number Awarded: 2. To Apply: Candidates must submit one original and seven copies of all application materials in order: application form with certification of Department Head; supporting materials (course details, and entire proof of academic performance); official transcript; letter of recommendation to the FPSA office. Deadline: December 1.
