Siems, Margarethe (b Breslau (now Wrocław), 1879; d Dresden, 1952). Ger. soprano. Opera début Prague 1902 ( Marguerite de Valois in Les Huguenots). Member of Dresden Opera 1908–22. Created roles of Chrysothemis in Elektra, Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier, and Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos (first version, 1912). CG début 1913. Taught in Berlin 1920–6, then in Dresden and Wrocław until 1940. Sang in concerts after Second World War and taught in Dresden.
