Jeremiâš, Jaroslav
Jeremiâš, Jaroslav, Czech pianist and composer, son of Bohuslav Jeremiâš and brother of Otakar Jeremiâš; b. Pisek, Aug. 14, 1889; d. České Budëjovice, Jan. 16, 1919. He studied at his father’s music school in Pisek, then studied piano with A. Miks at the Prague Cons. and privately with Novâk (1909–10). Although he died at the age of 29, he left several significant works, including the opera Stary král (The Old King; 1911-12; Prague, April 13, 1919), the oratorio Mistr Jan Hus (1914-15; Prague, June 13, 1919), a Viola Sonata, and songs.
