Grossmann, Ferdinand
Grossmann, Ferdinand, Austrian conductor, teacher, and composer; b. Tulln, July 4, 1887; d. Vienna, Dec. 5, 1970. He studied music in Linz, and later took a course in conducting with Weingartner in Vienna. In 1923 he founded a Volkskonservatorium in Vienna, and in 1946 he organized the Chamber Chorus of the Vienna Academy of Music, with which he toured in Europe and America. He composed a German Mass for Chorus (1952) and some chamber music.
