Dulichills, Philipp
Dulichills, Philipp, esteemed German composer; b. Chemnitz, Dec. 18,1562; d. Stettin, March 24, 1631. He studied at the Univ. of Leipzig (1579). He became cantor at the Stettin ducal Gymnasium (1587) and at the Marienkirche and director of music at the Pomeranian court. Dulichius was deputized as cantor at Danzig’s Marienkirche in 1604–05 and then returned to his positions in Stettin. He retired in 1630. He was highly regarded as a composer of sacred music, and was called the “Pomeranian Lassus.” His works, all publ. in Stettin, comprise 12 vols. of liturgical music (1589–1630), including some 250 motets.
