Borgioli, Armando
Borgioli, Armando, Italian baritone; b. Florence, March 19, 1898; d. in an air raid on the Milan-Modena train near Codogno, Jan. 20, 1945. He made his debut as Amonasro at the Teatro Carcano in Milan in 1925, and then sang at Milan’s La Scala and London’s Covent Garden. On Jan. 22, 1932, he made his Metropolitan Opera debut in N.Y., as Carlo in La forza del destino, remaining on the company’s roster until 1935. He was best known for his dramatic roles in Verdi’s operas.
