Bleyer, Georg
Bleyer, Georg, German composer, poet, and court functionary; b. Tiefurt, near Weimar (baptized), Oct. 28, 1647; d. c. 1694. He studied law and music in Jena (1664–66). He was named chamber secretary at the court in Rudolstadt, and was awarded the garland of poet laureate in 1672. He then was active as a musician in Darmstadt at the court (1677–78). He composed sacred vocal music, and also publ. a collection of dances for 4 and 5 instruments as Lust-Music (2 vols., Leipzig, 1670).
