Marie Baie des Anges
Marie Baie des Anges ★★ Angel Sharks; Marie Bay of Angels 1997 (R)
Although Nice's harbor is known as “The Bay of Angels,” Pradal sets his film in a sort of mythic French port, filled with French teens, gang members, American sailors, and tourists. Pretty gypsy Marie (Giocante) likes to flirt with the Americans but after getting dumped goes back to the local toughs, including petty criminal Orso (Malgras). They manage a brief idyll, then Orso begins pressuring Marie to steal a gun for him. She does, and you can imagine how things turn out. French with subtitles. 90m/C VHS . FR Vahina Giocante, Frederic Malgras; D: Manuel Pradal; W: Manuel Pradal; C: Christophe Pollock; M: Carlo Crivelli.
